I’m always getting questions about the nendo's so I figured it was time to make this. Check here [link] for another great FAQ ^_^

Nendo How to and FAQ

Where do you get your Nendoroids?

I usually buy them off eBay but sometimes get them at a local anime/comic shop. If you buy them off eBay, please be careful as many are bootlegs (fakes).

Are yours bootlegs or real ones?

To be honest, I don’t really know. At least 2 of them are bootlegs, I could tell that by the quality. The ones I purchased locally are definitely real. The others are very nicely made and don’t have any flaws so it’s hard for me to tell.

How much do they cost?

It depends on where you buy them. If you get them off eBay they can go for as low as 15$ ( but your taking a chance of getting fakes) or as high as 40$.

How do you change the faces/arms/bodies?

Don’t you worry about breaking them?

Not anymore. At first I was a wreck thinking I would accidently snap an arm off or something but after one of them rolled off the table, hit the floor, and turned up fine, my concerns disappeared XD

How many Nendoroids do you have?

XD Right now on 8/4/08 I have 15. One of those is a Haruhi nendo, all the others are Death Note related.

What kind of paint do you use?
I use basic acrylics you can find at Wal-Mart or any craft store. Here’s a general pic: [link]
Though if you can, try to stick to apple barrel brand, I’ve found its easier to work with than others and doesn’t get all… clumpy.

How do you get them so shiny?
I use a gloss to give them the shine and to also seal them. Here’s a picture of different gloss’s I use: [link]
The sculpey one is only used when I seriously mod a Nendo (ex. Watari)

What do you mean by ‘seal them’?
I basically mean coating/protecting the paint job. If you seal them, you can get them wet/dirty/etc without having to worry so much about the paint coming off (though everything has its limits). To use something as an example: [link]
In that comic Mello and L were both in the chocolate. Mello was covered and yet because he was sealed I had no real trouble getting it all off him. L on the other hand was not sealed and even though he barely got any on him, it took a lot longer to get off.

What kind of paint brushes do you use?
Anything decent, the brushes in the gloss picture are actually my backups XD and are not good quality. You can use any type of brush you please, but you might have problems with strands of brush hair falling off while your painting and getting on the nendo. Then it’s hard to get off -_-

What do you use to edit hair/make props?
I use Sculpey 3 Clay for severe editing and prop making. Pic here: [link]
(Sculpey must be baked for it to become hard and can be painted/sealed afterwards)

Can Nendo's be put in the oven so the clay molds right?
I’ve done this about 4 times with no issues, but every oven if different. If you do it, be sure to watch the nendo. When I had to cook mine I had them in for 15 minutes at 250 degrees.

Will you buy a Nendo and edit it for me?
I have no problem doing this as long as you know you have to pay for the nendo, shipping from wherever to me, clay if needed, and shipping to you. I don’t charge anything extra for the paint/labor/whatever you want to call it because it would be wrong of me XD so yea lol
(Just so you know, I usally get them from a certain supplier whom has been very good with nendos, he charges 18$ total and I always get the extra insurance for 2$ just in case so depending on what you want, lowest cost would be about 20$ + shipping. Anything else Ive gotten for lower has been rather bad quality -_-)

Will you paint my nendo for me?
If you want to send him to me and pay for the shipping back to you (plus any clay if needed) then yes I will. Please keep in mind that I am not perfect and they are bound to have minor flaws (ex. Matt’s stripes will not be exactly straight … stripes are hard lol)
